I'm trying out a new base camera. This one is an old Russian 4x5 ground glass camera. I've rigged up a wooden contraption and built a light-proof housing for the viewfinder to keep all reflections off the ground glass. I'm using my digital Nikon on a tripod (very long exposures) to capture an image of this ground glass as reflected (upside down) through the lens of the old camera.
I like the grainy feel of the ground glass, never a sharp focus, but I think it looks more painterly.
It took 5 minutes to get the bowl balanced just right, the plums toppling out. Then the cat jumped up on the set as he does so well. I promptly removed him.
